Learning to Drive
Introduction.
Driving should be an enjoyable experience not just about getting from A
to B. It is our intention to teach you to become a confident,
considerate, safe driver. We will not just teach you how to pass the
test. Each person is different, therefore each lesson is different.
Lessons are structured to meet each individual's needs.
The Tests.
To be able to obtain a full Driver's Licence you are required to pass
the DSA Theory Test (including Hazard Perception) and a practical
driving test.
The Theory Test is in two parts. The theory element covers areas such as
the Highway Code with 50 multiple choice questions from which you are
required to achieve a minimum of 43 correct answers.
The Hazard Perception test is held at the same time
as the Theory Test. It is delivered on a computer and you respond by
clicking a button on the mouse. You will be shown a series of f14
video clips which feature every-day road scenes. In each clip there will
be at least one developing hazard, but one of the clips will feature two
developing hazards.
Both elements must be passed at the same time
to achieve the certificate. You cannot apply for your practical driving
test until this has been achieved.
How long will it take me?
Research by the Driving Standards Agency (DSA) shows that the current
average number of lessons required is 42 with a further 22 hours
of private practice to pass. Remember this is only an average, the
majority pass with fewer lessons. During your training you will be
advised of the likely number of lessons required.
